Beyond Jakarta: Indonesia’s Emerging Investment Destinations September 2017
Indonesia’s property investment market is currently going through a quiet period due to domestic investors’ concerns around commercial oversupply in Jakarta, combined with the usual slowdown ahead of the next Presidential election. For foreign investors, fundamental regulatory issues still post considerable barriers.
Nevertheless, the long-term outlook remains positive and is being supported by strong fundamentals including solid economic growth, rising domestic consumption, steady urbanisation and an emerging middle-class population.
With land prices in Jakarta surging to new highs and many sectors near saturation, some investors are shifting focus to new areas. CBRE Research is cognisant of this trend and has identified ten up-and-coming locations primed for investment.
Investors are advised to closely monitor the markets identified this report and pay particular attention to the construction of infrastructure including railways, airports and roads that will improve connectivity and unlock new areas for development.
