CBRE Agribusiness consists of 60 professionals whom specialise in transacting and valuing agriculture assets throughout Asia Pacific, Americas and now Europe. The business has facilitated in excess of $3B USD of deals since 2015.
CBRE, the leading real estate consultancy and services provider, has recently extended its existing Agribusiness service line to Europe.
The CBRE Agribusiness team is the best in class provider of advisory, transaction and valuation services for farmland which includes supporting facilities such as processing, storage and manufacturing assets.
Outside of Europe the team has facilitated and seen a significant amount of deals involving global Institutional Investors whom have deployed major capital into cropping farmland, permanent tree crops and livestock. These Institutional Investors are now turning to Europe in order to offer their portfolios a geographic hedge.
Having only commenced operating as of January 2020, the European team has experienced significant interest from major food producers of which they have secured mandates in excess of €240m. This will no doubt increase substantially when the wider market becomes aware of its access to Institutional investors and capacity to facilitate major opportunities.
There are 106m hectares of arable farmland in Europe, which is also home to some of the world’s largest farmland operators and food producers. Similar to Asia being dependent on Australia’s ability to produce quality produce, we see France, Spain, Italy and Portugal being the food bowl for 500m people in Europe and these countries will remain playing an important role in its ability to produce quality, traceable produce. It will be these countries that see significant capital being deployed into strategic agriculture assets over the next 5 years.
Jack Svoronos | Head of CBRE Agribusiness
Due to having a strong understanding of the investment criteria involving the worlds most active Institutional investors, the CBRE Agribusiness team has a high success rate of developing successful divestment or growth strategies with its clients being farmers, land bankers, asset managers and major food producers.
European agriculture is rich and diverse, and there are some fantastic opportunities here for Institutional capital to explore. Having 27 offices across Europe, we have been aware for some time of the need for a specialist Agribusiness service to be based here in order to provide professional advisory, transaction and valuations to Europe’s large agri-food producers. These groups, albeit not aware of our strong global track record, have been impressed with the opportunities that may exist to them.
